The Karpaz Peninsula is the long “panhandle” of Cyprus stretching north-east from İskele. It is the wildest and least developed part of the island – a place of empty roads, fields of wild flowers, small villages and some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean.
What to see
- Golden Beach – kilometres of soft sand and dunes with turquoise water.
- Wild donkeys – the friendly donkeys of the Karpaz National Park often come right up to your car.
- Apostolos Andreas Monastery – a historic monastery close to the tip of the peninsula.
- Zafer Burnu (Cape Apostolos Andreas) – the very end of the island, with wonderful views.
- Dipkarpaz village – traditional village life and simple local restaurants.
Planning your trip
From the İskele resorts it is roughly a one and a half hour drive to the tip of the peninsula, so plan a full day. Take water, sun protection and cash, as there are few shops and cash machines along the way. Fill up with fuel before you set off.
Staying in İskele makes the Karpaz easy to reach. Browse our holiday homes in İskele and add a rental car to explore at your own pace.
